Kilmarnock took another massive step towards securing a top six finish after Kris Boyd's goal secured a 1-0 win over Rangers.

Boyd tapped home after Wes Foderingham had saved Youssouf Mulumbu's shot to send the Killie fans wild and ensure we remain unbeaten in three games against the 'Gers this term.

Eamonn Brophy and Aaron Tshibola returned to the starting line up as Killie aimed to bounce back from our cup disappointment against Aberdeen.

After a sluggish start, Killie grew into the match and started to play some good football despite a hectic recent schedule.

Russell Martin headed wide for the hosts after good work from Daniel Candeias but otherwise the visitors held firm in Govan.

After the break Steve Clarke's men started to assert themselves on the match with Jordan Jones using his pace to drive Killie up the field.

Following a series of attacks, Mulumbu was able to turn on the edge of the area and his angled shot saw Foderingham parry the ball and Boyd was in the right place at the right time to apply the finish,

Kirk Broadfoot produced an outstanding challenge to deny Rangers substitute Alfredo Morelos while Martin struck the bar with a header as Killie had to dig in.

However with grit in midfield and legs on the counter attack, Killie saw out the final minutes with ease to claim a wonderful win to the delight of the away fans in the corner of Ibrox.

Kilmarnock: MacDonald; O'Donnell, Findlay, Broadfoot, Taylor; Dicker, Tshibola (Power), Mulumbu (Erwin); Jones, Brophy, K.Boyd (McKenzie)
