Kilmarnock u20 6 – 1 Stirling Albion u20


Kilmarnock u20’s have progressed into the 4th round of the Scottish Youth after a superb 6-1 win over Stirling Albion on Sunday at Rugby Park.

Killie started the game with a youthful side which included under 17 players Darren Curtis, Jack Paterson and Oliver McDonald.

Killie opened the scoring on the 8th minute when Jack Whittaker pounced on a defensive mistake and slipped a wonderfully weighted pass through to Lewis Morrison who finished with great composure into the bottom left hand corner. (1-0)

The visitors wasted no time and responded quickly when they were awarded a penalty on the 9th minute which Ross Kavanagh slotted home to bring the scoreline level. (1-1)

The home side had a great opportunity on the 35th minute when Scott McLean delivered a terrific cross for Morrison, but his side footed volley was saved well by Albion goalkeeper Cammy Binnie.

Killie were awarded a penalty just before half-time when Jack Paterson was fouled in the box by a Stirling Albion defender. Scott McLean stepped up and calmly slotted the ball past Binnie into the bottom left hand corner. (2-1)

HT 2-1

Killie came out of the traps quickly in the second half and had a great chance to score when Whittaker delivered a deep cross towards McLean whose volleyed effort fell went wide of the post.

Killie wasted another great opportunity on the 58th minute when the lively Whittaker was fouled in the box by Stirling Albion defender Ryan Lockie. Morrison stepped up but had his penalty brilliantly by Binnie at his bottom right hand corner.

The home side’s persistence paid off on the 61st minute when Oliver McDonald blasted the ball home into the top left hand corner from 18 yards after great build up play by Morrison to give Killie a two-goal cushion.

Paul Stephenson’s side added a fourth goal on the 67th minute when Paterson again was fouled in the box and McLean stepped up to fire the ball past Binnie into the middle of the goal. (4-1)

Killie added another goal on the 81st minute when Taylor Queen played a pass over the Stirling defence for substitute Innes Cameron who volleyed the ball past the on-rushing Binnie. (5-1)

Cameron added a sixth for Killie – and his second of the game on the 85th minute when he was picked out superbly by Whittaker and he finished well with his left foot.

The Development Squad’s next game is away to Hibs in the SPFL Development League on Tuesday 8th November.
