Scottish actor Richard Rankin joined more than 60 bikers in pink bras and feather boas ahead of their 10th annual ride around the west of Scotland to raise money for charity.

Breast Way Round Scotland (BWRS) was set up in 2008 in memory of a female biker who died from cancer. This year the group celebrates its 10th year of riding around the west of Scotland and raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The bikers, dressed in pink bras, vests and feather boas, set off from Kilmarnock Football Club today (May 26) on a trip taking in Oban, Aviemore and Glencoe before finishing at Loch Lomond Shores on Monday.

Actor Richard Rankin, who has appeared in TV dramas Outlander, Thirteen and The Replacement, said: “It’s great to see people combining what they are passionate about with raising money for such an important cause. I hope more people take inspiration from this and join them to raise awareness of the support provided by Macmillan to those affected by cancer."
In addition to wearing specially decorated pink bras, hi-visibility vests and helmets with Mohawks, the riders sported yellow sunflowers on their bikes in memory of Macmillan Area Fundraising Manager Susan Selkirk who died of breast cancer last year.

We have all been touched by cancer in some way," said BWRS chairperson Chrissie Murray. “Every year many of those who take part ride in memory of loved ones who have died from cancer. We also have women who have been affected themselves and undertake the run while receiving treatment. This makes the whole atmosphere of the event very humbling and emotional."
Macmillan’s fundraising manager for Ayrshire Laura Stockwell said: “We are very grateful for the fantastic support from Breast Way Round Scotland over the years.

“Macmillan relies almost entirely on donations to fund its services providing practical, financial and emotional support to people affected by cancer and the money raised by this group will go a long way to helping us be there for them."
