Kilmarnock Football Club are thrilled to announce the signing of Kirk Broadfoot on a three-year contract.

The experienced defender, 32, started his youth career at Hibernian, before signing for St. Mirren in 2002. The Ayrshire-born player went on to make 174 appearances for ‘The Buddies’, before joining Rangers in July 2007. Kirk, a teammate of Lee McCulloch at Ibrox, gained vital experience at the Glasgow side, which included many appearances in the Champions League, where he played a vital role in the 2008 UEFA Cup campaign.

In August 2012, the six-foot-three defender joined English Championship side Blackpool, where he made 62 appearances for ‘The Seasiders’.

Broadfoot left Bloomfield Road at the end of the end of the 2013/14 season and signed for Rotherham in June 2014. The former Scotland International made 60 appearances for ‘The Millers’, before leaving the New York Stadium to return North of the border.

After signing for the Club, Kirk said: “I’m absolutely delighted to sign for Kilmarnock. Obviously I know the manager well and he was a huge factor in my decision to join, as he really sold the Club. There is a great bunch of lads here, who have made me feel very welcome from the moment I walked in. I’m a local lad and I understand how much the first match against Ayr means to the Club and the fans and I can’t wait to get started with such a huge game.”

Kilmarnock FC welcomes Kirk to the Club and wishes him every success for the upcoming 2017/18 season.
