Killie to hold foodbank collection at Ross County match

in #KillieStories September 21, 2017

Kilmarnock FC will host a foodbank collection at next weekend’s Premiership match with Ross County.

Working with Ayrshire (East) Foodbank and Trust in Killie, collection points will be set up at the corner between the Frank Beattie and Chadwick Stands as well as at the rear of the Moffat Stand on September 30.

Volunteers will hand out leaflets and raise awareness about the event at this Saturday’s clash with Dundee.

Ayrshire (East) Foodbank was founded in 2012 by local churches and community groups, working together with the aim of stopping hunger in our local area.

Foodbank development worker David Skilling said: "We're really grateful to Kilmarnock FC for agreeing to the foodbank conducting a collection in the grounds on a match day.

"The foodbank exists to aid local people in crisis with emergency food provisions. Low income and welfare reform are the two biggest reasons for referrals to the foodbank.

"We're only able to deliver foodbank services with the help of over 200 volunteers. Without the generosity of the public, churches, community groups, business and schools we would be unable to provide people with food.

"In the last financial year, the donations we received provided 2797 three-day packs that feed 3911 adults and 1762 children."

Any donation would be greatly appreciated.
