Goals from Kevin Nisbet and Neil McLaughlin saw Kilmarnock's Development Squad go down 2-0 to Partick Thistle.

Killie goalkeeper Curtis Lyle pulled off a number of fine saves in the first half to deny Nisbet and his attacking partner Connor Higgins. But he could do nothing as Nisbet opened the scoring right before the interval, tapping home from close range.

Ursene Mouanda wore the captain's armband for the home side and he was at the heart of their best moments, breaking up play in midfield before launching attacks with some crisp passing.

Daniel Scally and Innes Cameron tested Thistle goalkeeper Jamie Sneddon with efforts from distance as Andy Millen's men looked for a way back into the match.

Killie's best chance of the night came on 77 minutes when Josh Jeffries drove down the left to cut the ball back but Cameron blazed over the bar from a few yards out.

And the Ayrshire men were made to pay when Thistle doubled their lead minutes later.

McLevy was penalised in the penalty box by referee Callum Haswell and Neil McLaughlin stepped up to fire past the impressive Lyle.

Killie are next in action at home to Motherwell next Tuesday (October 17).

Kilmarnock: Lyle; Barr, McLevy, Higgins, Queen; Mouanda, Graham, Jeffries, McDonald; Scally, Cameron.
