Kilmarnock captain Steven Smith visited Hurlford Primary School to support the Tesco Bank Football Challenge.

The 32-year-old helped coach primary two children as they enjoyed a training session with Killie Community/Scottish FA coaches.

Over the past six weeks first team players including Greg Kiltie and Gary Dicker have been visiting schools across the county, delivering sessions and interacting with the community.

Steven Smith said: "It was great to visit Hurlford Primary School and to be part of the Tesco Bank Football Challenge – a fundamental programme in teaching children the importance of a healthy lifestyle.

"Having fun in any sport at this age is what’s important, and the Challenge enables children to enjoy football whilst instilling the benefits of keeping fit and active."

Adele Mills, Senior Community Investment Manager at Tesco Bank, added: “Our Community Programme encourages children to develop positive, lifelong habits and have fun whilst doing so.

"We’re delighted that Steven was here today in support of the Tesco Bank Football Challenge, and that the children got the chance to meet such a positive local role model.

"We’re committed to ensuring children understand the importance of keeping fit and active giving them memorable experiences such as today’s visit from Steven Smith."
