Hearts 1-2 Kilmarnock: Frizzell strikes late for Killie

in Match Reports November 5, 2017

Adam Frizzell fired home a late winner to give Kilmarnock a 2-1 victory against Hearts.

The substitute came off the bench to fire past Jon McLaughlin to send the 1,227 travelling Killie fans home happy.

Kris Boyd had fired the men from Ayrshire ahead on the half hour mark after a long pass from Kirk Broadfoot. The forward held off Michael Smith before steering his shot past the Hearts goalkeeper.

Hearts looked keen to make up for a poor first half display and they improved after the break with Isma Goncalves proving a real threat.

The former St Mirren striker had already struck the post twice in the match when he curled home the equaliser on 75 minutes.

Steve Clarke used his options from the bench, bringing Erwin on for Boyd just after the hour and then Frizzell for Chris Burke just before the Hearts goal.

With the game becoming stretched, Jamie MacDonald made a fantastic save to deny Isma before Killie went right up the other end to net the winner.

Rory McKenzie produced a driving run before finding the overlapping run of Stephen O'Donnel down the right. He cut the ball back to Frizzell, who executed an excellent turn and shot past McLaughlin before running towards the jubilant away support.

Steve Clarke was able to celebrate his first win as manager as Killie held out in the closing stages to cap a fine start to his first four games in charge.
