Kilmarnock 1-3 Aberdeen: Slow start costs Killie dear

in Match Reports November 26, 2017

A slow start from Killie saw Aberdeen run out 3-1 winners at Rugby Park.

Kenny McLean opened the scoring in the opening minute, firing home from the edge of the box to give the visitors the lead.

The Dons doubled their advantage in the 10th minute as a free kick deflected off Stephen O'Donnell and Kirk Broadfoot and flew past Jamie MacDonald.

Steve Clarke had made two changes to the team which had drawn with Dundee with Lee Erwin and Adam Frizzell replacing Kris Boyd and Chris Burke while Gary Dicker made the bench following his long injury layoff.

Dicker was introduced into the action with Boyd at the interval with Frizzell and Rory McKenzie coming off.

Killie rallied with Jordan Jones pulling a goal back with a well-placed shot into the corner.

However it was to be a brief moment of hope as Stevie May fired in a third for the Dons after Broadfoot and Greer were unable to clear the danger.

Jones was sent off late on for two yellow cards to mark a bad day at the office for the Rugby Park men.

Kilmarnock: MacDonald; O'Donnell, Greer, Broadfoot, Findlay; Power, Taylor, McKenzie (K.Boyd), Frizzell (Dicker), Jones; Erwin (Brophy)
