Kilmarnock Football Club is saddened to learn of the death of our former player Ronnie Sheed at the age of 71.
Ronnie joined Killie in the late 1960s and unusually made his first team debut for the club in European competition, in a Fairs Cup tie in Romania against Dinamo Bacau in January 1970.
A hard-working midfielder, Ronnie went on to make 152 competitive appearances for Kilmarnock, scoring 18 goals.
After being released by Killie in 1977, he joined Partick Thistle and was still playing for East Kilbride Amateurs well into his forties.
He had remained a part-time player at Rugby Park, working as a chartered civil engineer and he went on to hold high positions at both Strathclyde Regional Council and South Ayrshire Council.
Our condolences go to his family at this sad time.
