Disabled Access at Rugby Park

Disabled access should be organised in advance of matchday via the Kilmarnock Football Club Disabled Supporters Association (KFCDSA).

The Kilmarnock Football Club Limited (“The Club”) is committed to ensuring all supporters receive fair and equitable treatment and access as is reasonably possible to do so to all goods, services and facilities offered to the public by the Club.

The Club attempts to produce all policies in an easy read format, printed in a minimum of 12 font.

The Club acknowledges that not all of our facilities are fully accessible to all supporters but are constantly working towards making all necessary reasonable adjustments as described by the Equality Act 2010 and all relevant codes of practice to comply fully with legislation.

All appropriate staff receives training in compliance and more detailed training is provided on a wide range of potential additional support which our staff may require in order to provide a fuller customer experience.

All senior managers, coaches and administrative staff are training in dementia awareness. The Club aims to ensure all staff are trained on an ongoing basis on a variety of additional support requirements.

The Club has appointed a Disability Liaison Officer (“The DLO”) to act as intermediary between supporters and senior management.

The Club uses the services of the Kilmarnock Football Club Disabled Supporters Association (“The KFCDSA”) to ensure we are providing services as required by both our home and visiting support.

Under the Customer Charter the Club has a grievance policy in place and any complaints will be dealt with under that process.

All contact details and pricing appears on the website and is updated regularly.

All parking for supporters is provided via the DLO and allocated appropriately.

Home supporters may apply for membership of the KFCDSA which provides season tickets and single match tickets for a predetermined area within the Frank Beattie stand and all home wheelchair areas at a reduced price. Eligibility is based on a number of categories.

Tickets will be sent to the away team for all matches at Rugby Park for both wheelchair and ambulant supporters and are distributed in accordance with the away teams procedures. Supporters may access via turnstiles at rear of Chadwick stand or in the case of additional support through the Chadwick Stand gates.

Additional stewards are placed in areas where extra support may be required for supporters in the event of an emergency and we attempt to retain the same staff in the same areas for ease.

An additional rail has been added at the left hand side of gate 1 on the Frank Beattie Stand to assist trackside access to the allocated area.

Catering access is provided at ground level in the Moffat, East and Chadwick Stands. Catering assistance is provided via carers to the Frank Beattie stand and additional assistance is available through direct contact with representatives of the KFCDSA.

Disabled toilets in the Moffat, East and Chadwick stands are accessed with a radar key. Frank Beattie stand disabled toilets are available within the Sports Bar accessed via the service tunnel or via contact with G4S or KFCDSA representatives.

Audio commentary for the visually impaired is available in all stands and is distributed per match by the KFCDSA with the Club ably assisted by volunteers to provide the commentary.

The KFCDSA was formed in 1992. After meetings with the then Killie board, we were invited to form a committee that would then take over the running of all enquiries from home and away disabled football supporters who wished to attend games at Rugby Park. After the committee was formed a constitution was agreed on by members, who at that time numbers stood at 7 in total. Since then through the years to present we now have over 130 members.

KFCDSA Monthly Committee Meetings

Every month we hold a meeting of committee members in the Park Hotel to discuss any business involving KFCDSA and assist in trying to make sure that all our disabled members can attend games without any difficulties and if they need any help we strive to alleviate any problems that occur swiftly.

KFCDSA Commercial Activity

We conduct several commercial activities that are aimed at improving our members’ experiences whilst also doing our bit to help support the football club financially. We hold a bottle stall at the Killie Festival to raise funds for the use of our members. i.e Christmas Lunch in the Park Suite. We aid and assist members in whatever activity they choose to take part in, either learning or sports, by donating monies to them so they can participate.

KFCDSA Member Achievements

In addition, we have several members who swim for the West of Scotland in Scottish competitions, Tenpin bowlers (who at this time are in training for the Par-Olympics), one of our members is the British Champion at Badminton for Dwarfism and we have other members who participate in wheelchair outdoor green bowling in the Scottish Disability Sports Scottish finals.
