Alan Cochrane @ New Douglas Park

"Hamilton didn't play well because we didn't let them" and "I can't remember ever having as much possession in an away game and not come out on top".

Two of the quotes from Jim Jefferies after the game, but despite that, Thomas Cerny only had to make one decent save throughout the 90 minutes, a couple of headers went close, and Donovan Simmonds ballooned a shot over the bar with the goal at his mercy.

The game certainly wasn't a classic, but for the first 10 minutes after the break, Killie, who had controlled almost all of the first period, took their foot off the gas and paid the penalty during that time. Richard Offiong turned and shot across Rascle to get the only goal of the game, and 5 minutes later a ball had to be cleared off the Kilmarnock line after an almighty scramble inside the box .

During the first half Simon Ford headed a Willie Gibson cross just wide, then Manuel Pascali did the same at the other post to one from Jamie Hamill. The only other bright spot in an otherwise uninspiring half were Willie Gibson's shocking pink bootees. Surely there's a law against things like that?

After Offiong's goal early in the second period, Killie did try to chase the game, and Cerny had to race off his line to block Willie Gibson after he had a neat 1-2 with David Fernandez, but the chance of the game fell to Simmonds. The pass came across from the left, the big striker had time to steady himself, picked his spot, and skied it way over the bar from close range. With two minutes of injury time gone, Simon Ford had a shot from close in, but Cerny made a great block; his only real save of the game.

Jim didn't think we deserved to lose today, and were the better side on the balance of play, but we didn't take the few chances we had, when they came. And his final comment on Gibson's pink boots? "Keep them for pantomimes." Well it is the panto season!
