Walk for Scotland

Former Kilmarnock player Frank Beattie's daughter and son -in-law took part in the Walk for Scotland on Sunday 7th June 2009.
Pauline and Les Davidson walked 6 miles through the historic part of Edinburgh with branch members who have Parkinson's to raise money for the Parkinson's Disease Society and their local branch. As you know, Frank Beattie, has lived with Parkinson's for a number of years now and his wife Betty is an active member of the local branch committee.
The Parkinson's Disease Society aim is the conquest of Parkinson's and the alleviation of the suffering and distress it causes, through effective research, education, welfare and communication. In Betty's branch and support group, they aim to mirror this statement at a local level. There are monthly meetings and produce a quarterly newsletter which provides the opportunity to obtain helpful information relating to PD which is accessible to everyone.
PDS Scottish Resource Team, Parkinson's Disease Nurse Specialist and local voluntary groups work closely with the Parkinson's Disease Society to develop a network of contacts who assist with access to a wider group of sufferers who are not members of the PDS so that they can give them emotional and practical support.
All of this needs financial support and if you would like to make a donation towards the Walk for Scotland in aid of the Parkinson's Disease Society please visit the Killie Shop.
