Kilmarnock u19 (2) v Falkirk u19 (1)
Saturday 6th February 2010
Killie finally got back into action after the previous week's postponement when they took on Falkirk at Kilwinning on Saturday.Boosted by Jimmy Nichol's attendance at the game Killie tried to get off to a quick start but found Falkirk well prepared.
Kyle Good had to make agood block early on as both teams fought for the first goal.In 22 minutes Falkirk took the lead when Good spilled a long range shot and the alert Falkirk striker pounced to score.Killie tried to get back on level terms but the Falkirk keeper made a good save when Daniel McKay was through one on one.Killie's other main effort when Slattery came close after a Craig Fisher free kick. The remainder of the half was quite even but Falkirk went in at half time leading by the single goal.
Killie started well in the scond half and McKay almost played Davidson in in the first few minutes.Killie continued to dominate and deservedly equalised when McKay did well down the left and cut the ball back for Slattery to score with a firm drive.Slattery then cut the ball back after a surging run down the left leaving four players in his wake but McKay 's shot went over the bar.Falkirk were dangerous on the break and a couple of corners went across the face of goal with no one getting a touch.Killie continued to have the upper hand and scored again when Gary Fisher regained possession out near the corner flag and McKay hooked a lobbed shot over the goalkeeper.Killie then held on for a deserved victory.
