St Mirren went back up the road to Paisley with a share of the spoils, and it was no more than the visitors deserved. After half an hour of almost total Saints dominance, Kilmarnock suddenly found themselves a goal ahead, picked up their game a little to match the visitors for the next 15 minutes, and went in for the break a scarcely deserved goal ahead. Killie were better in the second half, but it was Billy Mehmet who hit a terrific volley to equalise in the 81st minute to win the Buddies a point, when it was starting to look as if they weren't going to get any reward for their efforts.

This was a game that was mostly played in the middle of the park, as both defences and mid-fields ensured that goal opportunities were few and far between. Sammon had the ball nipped off his toe as he was about to shoot, and Severin shot well wide at one end, while Mehmet headed wide and Bell had to tip a shot over, at the other.

Killie's goal came at the end of an attack up the right, Bryson's shot was parried by Gallagher, and Maguire was on hand to tap the ball in. Before the break, with confidence up a bit, Hamill had a header go wide and Maguire shot past after latching onto a Kyle flick.
Killie probably just shaded most of the second half, but it was St Mirren who got that equaliser through Mehmet, and if itdisappointing performance from Killie, and it was, a consolation for Jimmy Calderwood was that it wasn't a defeat.
