Youth Update
U11s
On Saturday the young Kilmarnock under 11s played Hamilton Accies in which turned out to be a very entertaining fixture. The first game was very tight between the two teams and Jamie Wilson was pulling out all the stops from preventing Accies scoring early on. Ross Whylie got in at the back post to score from an out swinging corner.
In the second game Killie finished the way they had started with Chris Law attacking the Accies defenders. Ewan Farrell started to pull the strings in the centre of the park with some delightful pieces of skill to create space for himself. Jack Paterson was linking well with the midfield and an early chipped pass resulted in a lovely finish over the keeper. Craig Phillips and Ross Copeland were more than capable of dealing with the Accies attacks and snuffed out the danger. Joe White and Jordon Bell created chances for each other as Killie went further forward looking to score more goals. All in all a good day although Killie started slow they picked the tempo up in the second games and show real grit, determination and desire to match Accies all over the park.
U15s
Sunday saw Hamilton 15s travel to Grange Academy. The combination of the warm sun and the dry rubber crumb made it difficult for both teams and free flowing football was a rarity.
Killies first goal was scored by Beck who after picking up a loose ball in the box, made space for himself to shoot home from a tight angle. Hamilton scored shortly after when from a Killie corner they quickly broke up the pitch.
The second session was a bit of a non event as both teams continued to struggle to get to grips with the game.
The game livened up goal wise in the 3rd session and Killies McPhersons good run and pass up the right hand side allowed Johnston to score with a well taken shot before Hamilton finished the stronger.
Both teams worked hard but there was little to show for their efforts and during a discussion after the game both teams agreed to arrange an additional fixture against each other to see if they could eradicate the poor performance from their minds.

U17s
The under 17s took on Hamilton at Greenwood Academy on Sunday. It was a very entertaining game with both sides showing some exciting attacking football particularly in the first half. Killie started very brightly and created a few chances before Chris Johnston scored after their keeper had parried a shot. Hamilton came more into it and took advantage of some bright wing play and some mistakes by the Killie defence to score on a few occasions. Killie continued to loo dangerous with Matthew Kennedy, Barrie McKay and Chris Johnston proving a handful. Killie's defence tightened up in the second half and Mikey McKitrick scored with a good header off a Kennedy free kick but Hamilton held on thereafter.
An entertaining game with both sides playing good football.
