U12s

In a re-arranged game on Saturday Killie 12s entertained Rangers at Almswall Park Kilwinning.

The games started at a quick pace and Rangers moved ahead when an angled shot was fired low into the Killie goal. Rangers continued to control the game with the Killie boys giving Rangers too much space and time enabling them to create more chances and add to their tally. At the end of the first period Killie began to get back into the game ending the period with Morrison hitting the Rangers bar and Ablorh bringing out a good save from the Rangers goalie.

The 2nd period started with Killie taking more of a grip on the game. A free-kick was awarded to Killie on the left edge of the Rangers box and this was driven home from a tight angle by Cook. Killie then began to produce some neat patient possession football and managed to score again when their pressure was rewarded when a Rangers defender handballed in the box resulting in Cook scoring from the spot. More chances were created by both teams and good saves were produced by Killie goalie Lyle. No more goals were scored by either team and Killie regretted allowing Rangers quick start to the game this had edged them ahead of Killie by the end of the game.

The change over games also started at a furious pace with both teams sharing equal possession of the ball but Rangers clinical finishing in front of goal meant that they edged ahead of Killie in all the games played. Killie did manage to keep Rangers in check through good play by Brown, Morrison, Finlay, Shirkie and McKay.

The Killie boys were reminded by their coaches the importance of starting all their games at a high temp while being patient in possession and having the ability to convert any chances that they create, especially at the high level in which they compete at every week .

U13s

Killie started well and controlled much of the first period with lots of possession and should have scored on several occasions. In the second session the play became scrappy from both teams before things settled down in the final session where Killie kept the ball better created some good attacking play using pace and creativity.

U14

KFC 14s v Inverness proved to be a very completive match at St Joseph's Academy on Sunday. Both teams competed for possession in the first period before KFC made the breakthrough in 15 mins. In the second session Killie were the more assured team and went on to score 2 more goals. The third period was more of a shared encounter but again Killie struck goal midway through the period. In general both Killie centre backs and the midfield combined well not just in starting attacks but also in keeping a clean sheet.

15s

Sunday saw an early departure for our 15s for the Highlands to take on Inverness CT at the Highland Football Academy

While the 15s played well throughout the entire first session showing good movement and passing they still found themselves on the end of a goal deficit. A couple of moments of slack defending allowed Inverness to capitalise and gain an early scoring advantage before Chisholm managed to get one back just before the first interval.

An injury to Killie's Deane forced a change in the defensive line up for the second session however Invernesses attacks became a rarity as Killie's McCreadie, Hodge, McCracken and McPherson, with the occasional help from new signing Dean's, shored tings up at the back. This allowed the remainder of the team too press Invernesses well worked defence. Killie's Beck was a constant threat as was McAvoy and McKay. Becks never say die attitude saw him retrieve what looked like a lost cause ball and cross for McKay to head home. The full introduction of U14 player Hawkshaw was delayed when after only 2 minutes he hobbled off the pitch for treatment before returning later in the game to make a valued contribution.

In the third session Killie goal keeper Wright handled any long range effort or crosses that came his way and the overall play continued as McKay added another before Johnston scored with a well timed header to complete the scoring and make it a well worth trip and an enjoyable journey home.

U17s

The U17s also made it a worthwhile trip to Inverness as they continued their good form. Blackwood, Thomson and McKay continued to impress and while McNally and Aitken kept things tight at the back it allowed McKay, Thomson, McNeil and McKitrick to get on the score sheet. No doubt Tomo will be raving about his goal but you can all be assured he will be brought down to earth during his work experience week with the club this week. The U16s player will be jumping to the tune of HOY and U19s Coach Alan Robertson for a few days as he gets an insight into the workings of a professional Football Club
